-CREDIT ACCUMULATION AND TRANSFER SYSTEMS (CATS)

O primeiro sistema de créditos, o Sistema de

Acumulação de Créditos dos Estados Unidos (USCAS), desenvolveu-se há já mais de 100 anos, espalhando-se gradualmente pela Ásia, África e América Latina. O Sistema Europeu de Transferência de Créditos (ECTS) iniciou-se há dez anos mas está a expandir-se rapidamente no continente europeu e fora dele. Países como a Austrália e a Nova Zelândia desenvolveram sistemas de créditos independentes. A Europa de Leste está a desenvolver sistemas frequentemente baseados no USCAS e no ECTS. As universidades do Reino Unido estão actualmente a trabalhar no sentido de fazerem a ligação entre as vantagens de acumulação e de transferência de créditos.

Temas a desenvolver na conferência:

• Qual o papel futuro do ECTS no Reino Unido e em outros estados da Europa ocidental e oriental?

• ECTS: avaliação da qualidade - acreditação -reconhecimento profissional e académico - questões independentes ou inter-relacionadas?

• Haverá a necessidade de desenvolver o ECTS no sentido de o transformar num Sistema Europeu de Acumulação e de Transferência de Créditos (EUROCATS)?
