SCOPE AND POLICY Identification and general information MILLENNIUM - Review of the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu, hereinafter referred to as PIV, is published every semester by the PIV (special supplements might be published whenever relevant). It is a free publication, accessible to public in general and available both in electronic format (www.ipv.pt/millenium/) and in paper version. The main language of the publication is Portuguese, however, written papers in English, French and Spanish will also be accepted. The review is open to the collaboration of all interested and seeks to be a vehicle for different opinions and beliefs, based on the principle of freedom of thought. Mission Considering that communication and dissemination are part of scientific research, and having in mind the fact that scientific work only becomes truly valuable once it is appreciated and evaluated by the scientific community, the goal of the review is to promote the dissemination of scientific, pedagogical and technical knowledge within the scope of the review, and, through this, stimulate information exchange, dialogue, critical discussion and debate, bring science to citizens and the general public, especially in the Portuguese speaking Community. Objectives - To disseminate and promote scientific research and knowledge developed not only by the academic community of the PIV but also by polytechnic higher education institutions in general. - To stimulate debate among academics, professionals and other interested people. - To provide professional development opportunities to all who work in the different scientific areas that are covered by the review, promoting their professional updating. - To provide and keep a compilation of quality scientific papers, which can be consulted in a quick, simple and easy manner through the use of electronic and physical dissemination means. - To allow students, teachers, experts and professionals to disseminate their research results and to be in touch with the work developed by their peers. - To encourage scientific and academic research as well as the dissemination of scientific methodologies. - To promote communication between experts and the general public. Target-Public Teachers and students in higher education, both undergraduate and postgraduate, professionals who develop their activity in areas covered by the review, public in general. Frequency – Semi-annual (in June and December).Special supplements might be published whenever relevant. |
